Those are some scripts that you can run on the server side provided by Firebase.

Cloud Functions are made for software developers, but if you follow the steps in the Firebase documentation to set up the environment so that you can deploy your Firebase Functions, you'll be able to publish your own functions.

Basically you need to add a function that will be triggered every time a user of your app uploads a message. That function will analyze the content and send the picture to the Google Cloud Vision API, which will answer with some information about it.

Don't worry about programming the function. Once you install the Firebase CLI in your computer (following the steps in the documentation), you'll just need to put this in the index.js file:

functions = require('firebase-functions');

// The Firebase Admin SDK to access Firestore.const admin = require('firebase-admin');

admin.initializeApp( functions.config().firebase );

const vision = require('@google-cloud/vision');

exports.chatMsg = functions.database.ref('/chatname/{docID}/content').onCreate((snap, context) => {

const content = snap.val();

if( content.startsWith("http") ){

  return (async () => {
      const client = new vision.ImageAnnotatorClient();

      const [result] = await client.safeSearchDetection(content);
      detections = result.safeSearchAnnotation;

      if( detections.adult == "LIKELY" || detections.adult == "VERY_LIKELY" || detections.adult == "POSSIBLE" ){
          return snap.ref.parent.remove();
      }
      return;

    })()
  .then(() => {
    return;
  })
  .catch( err => console.log( " An error has occurred " + err ) );

}
return;
});

You'll also need to add this dependency in the package.json file:

"@google-cloud/vision": "^2.3.1"

The easiest way to keep your SeattleCloud apps alive

Since Mobincube started in 2008, we've seen a lot of new other app builders appearing and disappearing after some time. Some of them were nice competitors and had good products, but surviving the app builder industry is not that easy. Even Mobincube had some bad moments in the past, but we managed to turn those moments into opportunities to get stronger.

Last month, a good app builder had to say goodbye: SeattleCloud. They always took care of their users, but at their very last moment, they've decided to leave their users abandoned, without providing them a good solution to keep their apps alive.

Now their users have to find their own solution. Some other app builders are trying to attract ex-seattleclouders. The problem with those is that, if you built apps with SeattleCloud, now you need to rebuild them from scratch. Basically those app builders only let you sign your new app with the old certificate.

The deadline is Jan 31st. So, if you have a lot of apps, it's going to be difficult to rebuild them in time.

Mobincube provides a different approach. We've made some changes, so that you can import your SeattleCloud apps to Mobincube, without creating them from scratch. In just 1 minute, you can import your app an replace it on GooglePlay or iTunes, so they keep working after Jan 31st.

You just need to download the backup and the signing certificate of your apps from SeattleCloud. Well, since SeattleCloud apps were not native, but hybrid (html + native). Some parts of their functionality was handled on the native wrapper, so the back-up that you get from SeattleCloud doesn't include all the functionality of your app, only the one that is web-based. So, when importing to Mobincube, some functionalities might not work, but at least you'll have most of your app imported.

In this video, we explain the process:

English version:

Spanish version:

How to get started with Mobincube

Building apps with Mobincube is super easy. The reason they gave was totally wrong.

They said that those apps included a so called "Mobincube SDK" which was accessing and collecting the phone number of the user, which was totally false.

Apps built with Mobincube did have a method in their source code to access phone number information, but it was not used. The source code of the apps built with Mobincube have a lot of method in order to provide a huge flexibility for developers to use them and create great apps.

Some Mobincubers need to access the phone number, and thus they add their own html/js screens that call to that function. So, only the apps of those users of Mobincube who intentionally wanted their apps to access the phone information are the ones that were accessing the phone number.

So, if you never added intentionally a screen in your app with the javascript code to access the phone number, your apps NEVER accessed nor collected the phone number.

Anyway, to avoid missunderstandings with Google, we removed that method from the source code and submitted an update on June 11.

After that, Mobincube users just needed to republish on Mobincube and re-submit their apps to Google play, in order to solve the problem and get their apps approved again.

That fix solved the problem with Google, but they are still banning some apps that were not re-submitted to Google Play after June 11.

IMPORTANT: if you still have apps on Google Play that their last update date is earlier than June 12, you should re-publish them ASAP to avoid problems with Google.

If your apps were already banned, you just need to republish them now.

Transitioning to the new UI

We’ve made an important update today on Mobincube.
